Dear “Choice Morsels” Friends, The Lord is taking us safely on our Westward journey. We have had wonderful times of fellowship and blessings in churches and with friends and relatives. It is truly the greatest privilege in the world to fulfill God’s calling on our lives. David and Donna
GIVING JESUS SOME FRESH AIR
“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” I Corinthians 6:19,20 (NJKV)
When one of our grandsons was still a small child, he had an asthma attack. By the time we got to the house, he had improved. Our daughter had been using a nebulizer to help him when his breathing became difficult. He was busy playing, when he suddenly came to the nebulizer and was taking deep breaths of air. I asked him what he was doing, and he said in essence, “I have to give Jesus some fresh air.” I had done my best to teach the little fellow that he should ask Jesus to come into his heart. As a child, he did not understand that there is a difference between the spiritual heart and the physical heart, but felt the need to “help Jesus a little.”
This is an amusing true story, but as true children of God we can adapt a lesson from this into our own lives. The Bible tells us that Jesus, through the Holy Spirit actually lives inside these mortal bodies. What a privileged people we are to have the almighty God living inside of us – in our spirits. As our grandson tried to give Jesus some fresh air, we must constantly be conscious of the fact that we too should never displease our Lord Who lives in us. Oh that we can fully grasp this fact – that our Lord is actually within us. When we use our bodies, or our minds, or our words in ungodly ways, how grieved He must be. However, when we always glorify or praise the Lord, it is like giving the Lord some fresh air spiritually. To glorify means: “To praise; to magnify and honor in worship; to ascribe honor to, in thought or words.” (Webster Dictionary) Sometime look down at your own body and realize that in your spirit-dwelling within your body of flesh - the Lord is actually living.
