ss20familyWhen the disciples got their heads out of the clouds and realized Jesus was gone, His final words must certainly have echoed in their minds—"Go into all the world and make disciples…." Were they up to the challenge? Less than 3 years had passed since that day by the Sea of Galilee when Jesus called out to the first among them—"Come, follow me…." It was evident, even at Jesus’ ascension, that they were in desperate need of the boldness and insight of the Holy Spirit, yet the implications of Jesus parting command were quite clear—they would soon be doing with others what He had done with them. Call it what you will—what happened in the lives of Jesus’ followers between the call to come and be, and commission to go and make—it was discipleship in its purest form.

ss picnic 09 judgesEvery year the end of summer, the end of summer vacation, and the beginning of school is the signal that Calvary Temple Church’s Annual Sunday School picnic is just around the corner.  That life’s marching order will soon be stepped lively to the beat of a different drummer.

One of the rituals of the picnic is when everyone brings the food.  This is when everyone pretends not to look, but scopes out what everybody else had brought.  One thing is for sure, when they say it is time to eat and the prayer is said, no one has to be asked twice to get in line.  At this year’s picnic, there were 65 in attendance.  Everyone seemed to enjoy the food and fellowship.

Junior High - (grades 7-8)  Equips 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to face the challenges of adolescence with confidence. Reinforces biblical truths and encourages them to apply what they've learned to their everyday lives.

Middler - (ages 5-6)  First day of school. Learning letters. Learning numbers. The first step in venturing out into the world, kindergarten is an important time to learn about God and His word.  Provides biblical principles through a variety of stories, activities, crafts, and games.

Nursery 1 - (to age 2)  Learning to walk. Learning to talk. Learning to know their world. Toddlers’ lives are full of discovery. Using the many “teachable moments” in a toddler’s life, biblical principles are taught through guided play.
